S-61 Navigational Lock
Lock Refurbishment
Kissimmee, Florida
-
This project was completed in 2010 for the South Florida Water Management District, and consisted of rehabilitating this lock on the Econlockhatchee River. In order to accomplish this, we were tasked to de-water the lock, installing temporary sheet piles, pour a new lock floor, replace lock wall seal beam, rehabilitate lock walls with shotcrete and clean and paint lock walls above the shotcrete. We removed the gates, refurbished the gates and then reinstalled them.
We also replaced ladders, staff gauges, chains at the lock wall fence, pintle grease lines and fittings, vertical expansion joint material, fender system wales, roof grating, traffic signals, navigational lighting, sandblasted, repaired and painted sheet pile training walls, sealed leaks with chemical grout, repaired deteriorated beams, tested cathodic protection system, installed lightning protection, replaced windows, and upgraded existing fence.
