The St. Johns River Ferry is a car and passenger ferry connecting the north and south ends of Florida State Road A1A in Duval County, linking Mayport Village and Fort George Island. The ferry crosses 2.5 miles inland of the river’s mouth and runs every half hour.
To date, C & D has completed 4 phases of renovations to the JTA Ferry System. Over 19 million dollars of modernization has been completed. The scope of work has comprised of repairs to the existing ferry slip walls, fenders, walkways, bulkheads, bridges, gantries, a new utility building and a new restroom facility. Beginning in February of 2016, the bulk of Phase I work was completed, and in January 2017, the bulk of Phase II was completed. Phase III and IV were done between 2018-2022. Close coordination with Ferry Operations have been a requirement on this site in order to minimize the impact to the public who patronize the ferry.
