St. Johns River Ferry

Fender System Rehabilitation
Phases I and II Jacksonville, and
Atlantic Beach, Florida

The St. Johns River Ferry is a car and passenger ferry connecting the north and south ends of Florida State Road A1A in Duval County, linking Mayport Village and Fort George Island.  The ferry crosses 2.5 miles inland of the river’s mouth and runs every half hour.

This project is comprised of repairs to the existing ferry slip walls, fenders, walkways and bulkheads on both the Mayport and Fort George Landings for the St. John’s River Ferry in Jacksonville, Florida.  In the two phases of work to date, an outage was commenced in order to complete work on the project.  In February of 2016, the bulk of Phase I work was completed, and in January 2017, the bulk of Phase II was completed.  Close coordination with Ferry Operations have been a requirement on this site in order to minimize the impact to the public who patronize the ferry.
