Additional Projects

FIND-DMAA Dredging Project

This project is located on NASA property south of the VAB on a 30-acre parcel of land. It is a containment site for the collection of dredge material administered by the Florida Inland Navigation District.

Nearly 500,000 cubic yards of fill was excavated and placed on a berm to contain future material dredge from the Indian River. Inside the berm, a series of sock drains and baffles were installed to assist in water percolation through the dike.

At the end, a 200-cubic-yard concrete baffle structure was built to control drainage of water back to the Indian River Lagoon. Seeding, sodding, dewatering, and environmental controls were all integral parts of this project.

Hangar F Door

Located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Hangar F has been an integral part of the space industry predating the Apollo era. The contract was issued by the Air Force to refurbish the aging hangar doors.

The existing doors were stripped of their corroded sheet metal and substructure, then reconstructed with new components to increase strength for hurricane resistance.

The existing windows were removed and replaced with an insulated, state-of-the art fiberglass window system. New rollers, weather stripping, locks, and breaks were installed to allow the system to have a lifespan of an additional 50 years.

Porcher House

The Porcher House is a historic landmark in Cocoa, Florida. Constructed in 1916, the home exemplifies 20th-century classical revival architecture primarily using coquina rock, excavated from a local source. The house also includes teak, oak, and cedar wood.

Throughout the years, C & D has completed various restoration projects to help preserve this landmark.

Executive Aircraft Hangar

Located at Merritt Island Airport, the new Executive Aircraft Hangar meets the growing demands of the aviation sector. This project includes comprehensive site development and facilities for executive aircraft. The site development features an efficient stormwater collection system, a lift station, and a force main that ensures optimal drainage and sewage management. This project also called for the integration of a fire sprinkler system.

For the hangar project, we added a Schweiss door and a roll-up door for accessibility. Inside the facility, we included a bathroom and a 14-foot ceiling fan to maintain a comfortable environment. The project also called for epoxy floors for the hangar.
